Shining the light on mental health and wellbeing

Moving into a second national lockdown, protecting mental health and wellbeing is arguably more important than ever.

Despite the current pandemic causing business uncertainty and a threat to jobs across the country, CCM Group has been fortunate enough to experience significant growth this year, with employee headcount shooting from 16 to 46 employees. Subsequently, our latest change sees the longest standing Business Director of 12 years, Chelsea Peek, stepping into a brand new role of Head of People, centred around staff mental health and wellbeing.

Chelsea will focus on developing innovative and comprehensive programmes to increase job satisfaction and support our almost tripled workforce. These programmes include talent development, culture and wellness initiatives, as well as retention strategies.

Excited to be thriving in her new role, Chelsea said, “With going into another nationwide lockdown and the majority of our employees working from home again, we’re taking particular measures and implementing activities to ensure we can protect the wellbeing of everyone, whether they are in the office or at home.

"I have already conducted wellness surveys with all our staff members so that we can really get to grips with our employees’ needs and feelings and make sure we’re doing everything we can for them.

"We’ve introduced weekly virtual company meetings, regular wellness 1-2-1’s with line managers, and Wellness Wednesday sessions allowing time for all the team to come together (virtually) to take a break from day-to-day activities and discuss any worries, thoughts or feelings surrounding the pandemic or work and home life.”

Not only are we focusing on our own wellness efforts, but our B2B division, CCM Creative, recently selected Healthy Minds, Healthy Business, a workplace mental health consultancy firm led by Jackie Shears, as the winner of our recent rebrand competition. The purpose of the competition was to offer a free logo redesign and accompanying printed business marketing materials to an organisation who needed extra support during the pandemic.

Chelsea explains, “Our skilled marketing and design team were really excited to select Healthy Minds, Healthy Business as the winner of the rebrand competition.

"So many fantastic businesses entered but as we’ve recently been promoting mental health awareness in the workplace and continue to do so, it was a no brainer for us to choose a company which holds such similar values to our own.”

2020 has been an extremely fast-paced and fluid time for our company, and we will see many more changes in the coming months.
